Top 10 Reasons Why Wax Melts are Better than Diffusers

We were sitting at home the other day and we realized that sometimes the rooms we spend time in need a little boost. Not that we don't love our place, but we wanted to spice things up a bit. One super easy way to do this is by adding your favorite scents into the air! There are tons of ways to do this, but not every option is created equally. Some methods are much easier and some are way better for your health.

Soy wax melts are one of the most common options besides soy wax candles. The exposed flames on candles pose a risk for catching something on fire by accident. Not having a flame is especially appealing for those with curious children or pets.

What Are Wax Melts?

Wax melts are cubes or balls of scented wax, similar to what is used to make candles, but without the wick and fire. The heater inside of the wax warmer raises the temperature of the plate the wax sits on and it slowly melts the wax.

Wax melts are great for giving the aesthetic and aromatherapy benefits of a candle, without the open flame. Your warmer may include a decorative LED light under the plate that adds to the design and aesthetic as well.

10) Easy to Change Strength of Scent

Some diffusers or candles can be overpowering--particularly when paraffin wax is used, with the scent completely overwhelming a room. While this might be a preference for some, others might not be too keen on it. With wax melts, you can easily manage the strength of the fragrance in your desired room. Simply break off a cube or add more to the melter depending on your sensitivity or preference!

9) Promote Aromatherapy

While diffusers are heavily promoted as sources of aromatherapy, if they are not used correctly, they can actually have an adverse effect. Because wax melts are more concentrated, you can appropriately measure the amount of essential oils allocated each time you use your wax melter. If you add too much essential oil into your diffuser, not only do you find yourself wasting SUPER expensive oils, but you end up with a strong and oftentimes harsh fragrance.

Moral of the story? Aromatherapy is meant to improve quality of life... we don't know about you, but a harsh aroma permeating through the house and empty pockets does not sound fun to us!

5) Last Longer

Wax melts last way longer than diffusers and candles...periodt. Now... don't get us wrong... we LOVE... LOVE our candles but the truth is, the average 16-ounce candle burns for between 60-84 hours. That breaks down to about 5 hours of burn time per ounce of wax. I know this sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. In comparison, the average wax melt will have about 28 hours of burn time per ounce. (Now that's a lot of fragrance time!)

This is a time when you really get what you pay for. The most common types of wax melts you will find on the market are soy wax melts and paraffin wax melts. Soy wax melts are a much better, healthier option than traditional paraffin wax for a number of reasons.

Soy wax melts are natural. They are derived from the soybean. It is a hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns solid at room temperature. Soy wax contains nothing artificial, making them a much better alternative than paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is made from petroleum oil and produces harmful byproducts when it is burned or melted. (That is NOT what we want to be breathing in!) In comparison, soy is a non-toxic wax melt, making it better for the environment and your health.

Since soy wax is made from soybeans, it is environmentally-friendly. Sold! Unlike paraffin wax, it is derived from a renewable resource. Pretty simple if you ask us.

Soy wax also burns about 40-50% slower than paraffin wax on average. This gives you better value for your money than the alternative.

Since soy wax melts are made from all-natural ingredients, they deliver a cleaner burn than other options. They do not release dangerous carcinogens into the air. Yuck.

In addition, the cleaner burn also makes the scent of essential oils more pleasant and stronger-smelling than the chemical scents added to paraffin wax.
